Description

A creamy and spicy dip made with shrimp, cream cheese, and a blend of spices, perfect for appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Tortilla chips or crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook Shrimp: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Add shrimp, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Cook until shrimp are pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  3. Mix Base: In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, remaining smoked paprika, cheddar cheese, lemon juice, and half of the chopped green onions. Mix until smooth.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Chop cooked shrimp into small pieces, leaving a few whole for garnish. Fold the chopped shrimp into the cream cheese mixture.
  5. Bake: Transfer the mixture into a baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Top with remaining whole shrimp and green onions. Serve warm with tortilla chips or crackers.

Notes

  • Spice Level: Adjust the cayenne pepper according to your spice preference.
  • Cheese Variety: Try using a mix of cheeses such as Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack for added flavor.
  • Shrimp Preparation: Ensure shrimp are thoroughly cleaned and deveined for the best taste and texture.
  • Make-Ahead Option: Prepare the dip a day in advance and bake just before serving to save time.
