Ingredients

- 2¼ tsp instant yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp butter, softened
- ½ tsp salt
- Oil for frying
- ½ cup fine sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add egg, butter, and salt; mix in flour gradually until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes, then cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll dough to ½-inch thickness and cut out donut shapes using a cutter.
- Place on parchment and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil to 350°F and fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain briefly and roll warm donuts in fine sugar to coat.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
- Donuts can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
- Experiment with different coatings like cinnamon sugar for variety.
