  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Start by pressing your tofu. This step makes all the difference. I like to wrap the block in a clean kitchen towel and place something heavy on top.
  2. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes. Toss them gently in cornstarch until each piece is lightly coated.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. When it is hot, add the tofu in a single layer. Let it cook undisturbed for a few minutes before turning.
  4. While the tofu cooks, whisk together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  5. Once the tofu is crispy, pour the sauce into the pan. Stir gently to coat every piece.
  6. Turn off the heat once the tofu is fully coated and sticky. Serve immediately while everything is still warm and fragrant.
