Ingredients

- 1 lb Ground beef
- 2 Onions (thinly sliced)
- 1 cup Gruyère or mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups Beef broth
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 Egg
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp Thyme
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Mix ground beef with breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper; form into meatballs.
- In a skillet, caramelize onions slowly with butter and olive oil until golden and soft.
- Add beef broth and thyme to onions, simmering into a rich gravy.
- Brown meatballs in a separate pan, then transfer into the onion gravy.
- Place skillet in oven, top meatballs generously with cheese.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with extra thyme and serve hot with crusty bread.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of beef and pork for the meatballs.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of cheese based on your preference.
- Serve with a side of crusty bread for dipping in the gravy.
