Ingredients
Scale
- 200g Mozzarella cheese, cubed
- 1 cup plain flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Coatings:
- In a shallow bowl, mix the bread crumbs with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Place the flour in a separate bowl.
- Pour the beaten eggs into another bowl.
- Coat the Cheese:
- Take each cube of mozzarella cheese and roll it first in the flour, ensuring it’s fully covered.
- Dip it into the beaten eggs, coating it completely.
- Roll it in the seasoned bread crumbs, pressing gently to ensure they adhere well.
- Repeat the egg and bread crumb coating for a second layer for extra crispiness.
- Chill the Cheese Balls:
- Place the coated cheese balls on a tray and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to help the coating set.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour vegetable oil into a deep frying pan, enough to submerge the cheese balls.
- Heat the oil to 350°F (180°C).
- Fry the Cheese Balls:
- Carefully place the cheese balls into the hot oil, a few at a time, to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
Notes
- Freezing Tip: For convenience, freeze the prepared cheese balls before frying and use them directly from the freezer. This helps prevent cheese leakage during frying.
- Cheese Variations: Try a mix of different cheeses like cheddar or Monterrey Jack for varied flavors.
- Serving Suggestion: Serve hot with marinara sauce or a spicy dip for added flavor.
