Description

Enjoy these delicious crispy fried cheese balls made with mozzarella and seasoned coatings. Perfect as a snack or appetizer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g Mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coatings:
    • In a shallow bowl, mix the bread crumbs with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Place the flour in a separate bowl.
    • Pour the beaten eggs into another bowl.
  2. Coat the Cheese:
    • Take each cube of mozzarella cheese and roll it first in the flour, ensuring it’s fully covered.
    • Dip it into the beaten eggs, coating it completely.
    • Roll it in the seasoned bread crumbs, pressing gently to ensure they adhere well.
    • Repeat the egg and bread crumb coating for a second layer for extra crispiness.
  3. Chill the Cheese Balls:
    • Place the coated cheese balls on a tray and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to help the coating set.
  4. Heat the Oil:
    • Pour vegetable oil into a deep frying pan, enough to submerge the cheese balls.
    • Heat the oil to 350°F (180°C).
  5. Fry the Cheese Balls:
    • Carefully place the cheese balls into the hot oil, a few at a time, to avoid overcrowding.
    • Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
    • Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.

Notes

  • Freezing Tip: For convenience, freeze the prepared cheese balls before frying and use them directly from the freezer. This helps prevent cheese leakage during frying.
  • Cheese Variations: Try a mix of different cheeses like cheddar or Monterrey Jack for varied flavors.
  • Serving Suggestion: Serve hot with marinara sauce or a spicy dip for added flavor.
