Description

A rich and creamy homemade hot cocoa perfect for cold days.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream (for serving)
  • mini marshmallows (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Pour in the hot water and stir well with a whisk until the mixture is smooth. Bring to a gentle boil while stirring constantly.
  3. Stir in the milk and heat until the hot cocoa is hot but not boiling. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and whisk until smooth and creamy.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired. Serve immediately.
