Description

This delicious broccoli quiche is perfect for brunch or a light meal!


Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade; prebaked recommended)
  • 1 ½ cups fresh broccoli florets, chopped (or 1 cup frozen, thawed & drained)
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • ½ cup onion, finely diced (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (Swiss or Gruyère also work beautifully)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half (or ½ cup milk + ½ cup heavy cream)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Pinch nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Prick the bottom with a fork, line with parchment, add pie weights.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove weights and bake for 5 minutes more.
  5. Steam or sauté broccoli just until tender—about 3–4 minutes.
  6. In a pan, melt butter and cook onions until soft (optional step).
  7. Spread broccoli and onions evenly across the prebaked crust.
  8. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  9. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and nutmeg.
  10. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Pour custard mixture over the filling.
  12. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set but slightly jiggly.
  13. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add cooked bacon or ham to the filling.
  • Customize with your favorite vegetables or cheese.
