Description

Delicious blueberry cream cheese rolls perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted for brushing
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a sticky dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  3. Assemble the Rolls:
Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 12×18 inches. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the fresh blueberries evenly on top of the cream cheese layer. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge into a log shape. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking pan.
  4. Bake the Rolls:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover the rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 20 minutes. Brush the tops with melted butter. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Serving:
Allow the rolls to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast without killing it.
  • If using frozen blueberries, thaw and drain them well before adding to prevent excess moisture.
  • The dough can be prepared the night before and allowed to rise slowly in the refrigerator overnight.
