Description
A fresh and flavorful salmon tartare, perfect for serving as an appetizer or a light meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz sushi-grade salmon fillet, diced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped shallots
- 1 tablespoon capers, drained and chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon jalapeño, finely minced (optional)
- 1 ripe avocado, diced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Tortilla chips or cucumber slices (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Start with a sushi-grade salmon fillet and ensure it is fresh. Dice it into small cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced salmon, lime juice, soy sauce, shallots, capers, cilantro, and jalapeño (if using).
- Add salt and pepper to taste, ensuring the flavors meld perfectly. Mix gently to combine.
- Cover the mixture with plastic wrap or a lid and let it chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes for the flavors to develop.
- While the tartare chills, dice the ripe avocado and set it aside for serving.
- Once chilled, use a ring mold or simply spoon the salmon mixture onto serving dishes.
- Top the tartare with diced avocado for an extra creamy texture.
- Optionally, you can garnish with more cilantro or a slice of lime for a pop of color.
- Present the tartare with tortilla chips or cucumber slices on the side for scooping.
